Advanced disease, also called end-stage or terminal cancer, may occur when there are few signs that remission is possible. During this time, your loved one still has a number of treatment options even if it gets to this stage including standard, palliative, and end-of-life care. One of the most important things you can do is discuss what your loved one wants and values during this time. Communicate these wishes with the health care team to try to put together the best plan for your family and your loved one’s quality of life.
