Support Groups for Cancer Patients
During the cancer journey, there may come a time when a patient needs another ear to listen. Support groups for the oncology patient help ease the burden of living with a cancer diagnosis. These groups allow patients to share their concerns and feelings with other patients under the guidance of a trained facilitator.
Support groups can be available online or they may meet in person. Opportunities for support can be found in the Cancer Hospital, the Patient and Family Resource Center, your own community or your faith based community.
Support groups work with the cancer patient to speak about issues related to sharing their diagnosis, concerns about treatment and issues that they do not want to confide to their family and friends. Support groups can be very helpful in managing the emotional and physical stress for the cancer patient.
Below are some different types of support group options for your loved one.
